Before I tell you about my siblings and our lives, I will begin with some statistics about children who witness domestic violence. Children who witness domestic violence are at a higher risk of being abused or becoming a perpetrator. Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to harm their partners and children as adults. Girls are more likely to be victims as adults. Children exposed to violence in their home are 15 times more likely to be physically and.or sexually assaulted than the national average. Children who witness domestic violence are also at a higher risk of developing behavioral and psychological problems. Violence in homes is one of the most prevalent pandemics of our time. It remains a hidden problem that society does not want to talk it about and its effects. Well, at Mom's Treasures, we pray to decrease these statistics, bring awareness to domestic violence, be advocates for domestic violence and give children who have witnessed domestic violence or lost a parent to domestic violence a greater chance at succeeding in life. We want to provide them with the necessary tools to be healthy and prosperous in their life, and God is the most influential source that they need to survive and thrive in life. Those statistics state that my siblings and I could have possibly ended up living many different lives than the ones we are living in now. We are living the best lives we are living today because of God and his grace, mercy, and supernatural favor. God had given us a purpose to live. We are strong and powerful today because God has equipped us with everything we need to survive and thrive in our everyday lives. That does not mean we won't have trials and tribulations in our lives, but God will surely deliver us out of them all. Psalms 34:19 says Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. When we lost our mom in 2007 to domestic violence, either one of us could have easily become a part of the statistics but God. God gets all the glory for where we all are in life today because we could have been gone too. However, God sustained us and kept us here for a purpose and a reason. There are plenty of men who have killed the mom and the children, too, but God kept us. We have to continue the legacy of our mom and continue to make her proud because we were her pride and joy and her treasures. We can't quit, and won't stop because this organization is so much bigger than us. We have all graduated high school, went on to college; we all have started families, we all are successful, and we are continuing to better our lives every day. None of us turned to drugs, alcohol, or any other coping mechanisms to try to heal our broken hearts we have turned to God, who is the author and finisher of our Faith. Faith and Prayer have sustained us and kept us living and functioning in our new normal after the tragedy of losing our mom. Of course, the devil has tried to come in and steal our joy, kill our Faith and destroy our family but we need him to know that we are a praying family and that God had already won the victory when he sacrificed his precious son Jesus who has redeemed us and made us free. God is powerful, mighty, big, strong, unstoppable, and he created us with the same qualities to go out and conquer the world. SO GO OUT AND CONQUER THE WORLD EVERYDAY WITH GOD LEADING AND GUIDING THE WAY! WE MADE IT THROUGH THE STORM AND YOU CAN TOO! Matthew 19:26 says, But Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
