There is another pandemic going on in the world with a spike in domestic violence. As quarantine took place around the world the domestic violence cases are rising at an alarming rates. In the pass month and a half victims have been quarantined with their abusers due to lockdowns in cities across the world. The abuser has been given more control and power of the victim during these trying times. COVID- 19 is being used as an excuse for abusers to further control and abuse their partner. During these times of loss of jobs, frustation, and illness abusers are likely to severely hurt or even kill their partner.
Furthermore, victims are not able to call for help because their abuser is in the room with them or somewhere in the house. The calls to domestic violence hotlines have been down not because no one needs help but because they are being watched 24/7 in lockdown. The victim may also feel like there is no where to go to for help because of social distancing and communities being told to stay at home.
Let's not forget the children who are also being quarantined and having to listen and witness domestic violence. What type of affect is that having on them as an innocent bystander. The children's development is being affected when they witness domestic violence. They may become depressed, anxious, violence or even suicide. Children may not understand what is going on during these times and why their parent is abusing the other instead of loving them. That's why I want to encourage who ever reads this blog to pray for the victims of domestic violence, their children and families.
Father God I pray now that domestic violence victims and their children will rely only on you God. I thank you God for pleading you blood over them and their children, cover them God from the top of their heads to the soles of their feet. You are a provider, comforter, deliver, fortress, refuge, friend and protector. I pray now that they will find strength, power and comfort in knowing that you are by their side and that you will never leave or forsake them. I pray God that they will seek your face and cry out to you because you can make the impossible possible. I pray that they will find a safe haven to escape and run to. Lord Jesus I pray that they hold on to 2 Timothy 1:7: For God has not given me a spirit of Fear, but of love, of power and of a sound mind. I thank you God for leading , guiding and directing their path to safety. These prayers I ask in your holy, powerful and majestic name Jesus! Amen!
